Flashback Friday! Here’s that time I was defeated by a burger and fries at Humble Potato in Los Angeles — a funky little restaurant that serves “American Comfort with a Japanese Kick!”
I ordered the Battle Royale. It’s a gigantic angus burger topped with caramelized onions, garlic jam, smoked bacon, avocado, romaine lettuce, tomato, a fried egg with a perfectly runny yolk, Shichimi Togarashi (a tasty Japanese seven spice powder), and their special Humble Potato spicy sauce. I think it weighed more than a newborn. And I had to eat it with a fork and knife.
And because I thought the Battle Royale wouldn’t be enough for an incredibly hungry Lia, I decided to order a side of Shichimi and garlic parmesan fries with Nori. It came with some Humble Potato spicy sauce for dipping, and I have to tell you that these fries were KILLER. I’m definitely inspired to sprinkle Shichimi on all of my food.
Obviously my eyes were waaaaaay larger than my stomach. I tried my hardest to conquer the Battle Royale, but I couldn’t do it. Even with a cold, refreshing jasmine tea to help me wash it all down, I had to leave a little bit of burger on the plate. As for the fries? Well, let’s just say I had a delicious and spicy breakfast the next day. 🙂
