There’s a new Kamado Joe at the house, and it was christened last night by a couple of juicy steaks! The old gas grill with the rusted out insides was finally hauled away this week, and we now have a ceramic grill that can make moist meats, bake bread, and even fire pizzas. I’ve never been so excited about a grill before.
Here’s our patio dinner from last night, courtesy of the new grill: New York strip steaks, corn on the cob (slathered with butter, salt, and pepper), garlicky bell peppers and Swiss chard (from my CSA this week), and a homemade chimichurri sauce. Of course, no steak dinner is complete without red wine, so we had a bottle of petite syrah from Freemark Abbey.
The goal this summer is to learn how to grill meats and make pizzas. I want to be like those TV chefs that can touch a filet and tell you — just from the feel — whether it’s rare, medium, or over cooked. Also, with a pizza stone, I can toss a homemade pizza in the grill and fire it over the coals in minutes. How awesome is that?!
Pizza party at my place???
