Beautiful glass art by Dale Chihuly
We kicked off the holiday season with a trip to Atlanta to see the Garden Lights, Holiday Nights display at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. (FYI: The show runs until January 5. It’s ending soon!)
I’ve been to two drive-through light shows before, but this one is a walk-through display, and it’s absolutely gorgeous. The gardens are completely covered and decorated with festive lights — and nothing obnoxious like gigantic waving snowmen and distorted reindeer. The lights are beautiful. There are even “orchestral orbs” on display — bright orbs of light that dance to Christmas music. Holiday music fills the air, and there are places where you can roast marshmallows or go sip hot cocoa. Or you could even grab a holiday-themed martini at one of the cocktail bars in the garden.
Cameras can’t capture how awesome this place looks, and I highly recommend a visit to the holiday light show if you’re able. I can’t wait to go back next year and see how they top this year’s display!
